About this Sacred Practice

Sung at the beginning of all auspicious ceremonies, rituals, and daily prayers in Indian homes, the Ganesh Aarti honors Vighnaharta—the lord who clears impediments on our spiritual and worldly paths. The rhythmic ringing of temple bells, waving of the sacred camphor flame (aarti deep), and collective devotion create an uplifting aura of joy and gratitude.

Traditional Scriptural Context:Traditional North and West Indian devotional aarti passed down through generations. Revered across all traditions of Sanatan Dharma.

Devotional Intentions

Practitioners traditionally sit with these mental orientations to cultivate inner peace, steadfast courage, and sincere devotion:

  • Removal of inner obstacles and confusion
  • Auspicious blessings for new beginnings
  • Cultivating gratitude and childlike innocence in devotion
  • Invoking wisdom and joyful harmony in family and work
* Mantra Van presents traditional texts as sacred heritage for contemplation. No supernatural or medical cures are implied.
